How do I register as a new student?

New students should complete our online registration form. After submitting the form, students ages 7 and older will schedule either a placement class or audition before enrolling in classes.

Children enrolling in our Children's Division (ages indicated for each class) may register directly without a placement class.

Can I choose which classes my child takes?

Our goal is to place every dancer in the classes where they will be the most successful. While we welcome your input, faculty recommendations determine class placement for students ages 7 and older.

Children's Division classes are designed specifically for the ages listed and may be selected based on your child's age.

How do I know which classes are appropriate for my dancer?

For dancers ages 7 and older, placement is determined through a placement class or audition conducted by our faculty. We evaluate technical ability, physical readiness, strength, coordination, musicality, and overall development to recommend the most appropriate level.

Children's Division classes are appropriate for the ages indicated in each class description.

What is a placement class?

A placement class is an evaluation conducted within a regular class setting. It allows our faculty to assess a dancer's current technical level and recommend appropriate classes. It is not a test to "pass or fail," but rather a way to ensure students receive the best possible training.

What is a trial class?

A trial class allows a prospective student to experience a class before enrolling.

Unlike a placement class, the purpose of a trial class is simply to determine whether Eglevsky is a good fit for your dancer.

Can my child take a free trial class?

Trial classes are available for a $25 fee. If you decide to enroll, the $25 will be applied toward your annual registration fee.

Can I enroll in just one class?

Yes—for students in our Children's Division and early Academy Track (Youth Beginner-Youth Intermediate). Once students reach the Academy Intermediate or Advanced level of the Academy Track, we recommend a minimum of three classes per week.

Students enrolled in our Lower School (Levels I-V) and our Upper School (Pre-professional Training Program) follow a carefully designed curriculum and are expected to enroll in all required classes for their level in order to support healthy technical development.

If my child is advanced, can she or he take classes with older students?

Possibly. Age is only one factor in placement. If faculty evaluation indicates that a younger dancer possesses the technical proficiency, physical maturity, and readiness for a higher level, we may recommend placement with older students.

My child studies ballet at another school. Can they take pointe classes at Eglevsky?

No. Pointe work requires careful evaluation by our faculty regardless of previous training.

Students must be evaluated for strength, alignment, technical proficiency, and physical readiness before being approved for pointe classes. Faculty recommendations regarding pointe eligibility are final and are made solely in the interest of dancer safety.

What is an Open Class?

Open Classes are designed for dancers who wish to attend individual classes without enrolling in a full training program. Open Classes are ideal for adult dancers, visiting students, professionals, or dancers seeking supplemental training, provided they meet the technical requirements for the class.

Availability varies by class and level. There’s no pre-registration required.

Do you offer classes for adults (ages 18+)?

Yes. We offer adult classes for dancers of various experience levels, from beginners through experienced dancers. Adult students are welcome whether they are returning to dance or trying ballet for the first time.

Is there a uniform?

Yes. Eglevsky Ballet has a dress code and uniform requirements that vary by division and level. These include designated leotard colors, tights, shoes, and hair requirements.

Yes! We offer private lessons for students who want more personalized attention or have specific goals they want to work towards. Private lessons can be scheduled with any of our teachers and are priced separately from regular classes. Contact us for more information.

What should my child wear to class?

Students should wear the required dance attire for their division and level. Proper dancewear allows faculty to safely evaluate alignment and technique.

We require all students to wear appropriate dancewear and shoes for their classes. For ballet technique classes, female students must wear a black leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Male students should wear black leggings or shorts, a white t-shirt, and black ballet shoes. For other classes, such as contemporary or jazz, students may wear more flexible dancewear, but still must dress appropriately and wear appropriate shoes.

Our teachers are experienced ballet dancers and educators, with backgrounds ranging from professional careers to degrees in dance education. All of our teachers are passionate about ballet and dedicated to providing high-quality instruction to our students.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept major credit cards and other electronic payment methods through our online portal system. Additional payment options may be available through the office.

When are tuition payments due?

Tuition is due according to the payment schedule outlined during registration; summer program payments are due at specific dates indicated on the registration forms and regular season payments are due on the first of each month. Families should ensure payments are made on time to maintain enrollment. If you need a different payment plan, please contact the office via email.

Can I pay for the entire year in advance?

Yes. Families are welcome to pay tuition in full at the beginning of the school year.

Do you prorate tuition?

Yes. Tuition is prorated for students who enroll after the start of the school year or after the start of a summer program based on their enrollment date.

Are registration fees refundable?

Registration fees are non-refundable.

What performance opportunities are available?

Performance opportunities vary by age and program.

Students may have opportunities to perform in:

• The Nutcracker (audition required)
• Spring productions
• Annual Student Workshop & Children's Division presentations
• Studio showcases
• Community performances
• Special events and outreach performances

Participation requirements vary by program and production.

Is participation in performances required?

Some performances are an expected part of certain training programs, while others are optional. Performance expectations will be communicated well in advance.

What happens if my child misses a class?

Students are encouraged to attend consistently to ensure steady progress. Make-up classes are available at or below the student’s current enrollment level. Please contact the office to discuss options.

Can my child switch class levels during the year?

Yes. Faculty continually evaluate student progress and may recommend a level change if it best supports the dancer's development.

May parents watch class?

To help students develop independence and maintain a focused learning environment, parents are generally not permitted inside the studio during class. Observation opportunities are scheduled periodically throughout the year.

How will I know if my child is progressing?

Faculty continuously assess each student's development. Families are welcome to discuss their child's progress with the office, and conferences are scheduled during the school year.

What makes Eglevsky Ballet different?

Do you offer financial assistance?

Yes. Limited financial assistance is available through our Tuition Assistance Program for qualifying families. Applications are reviewed confidentially, and awards are based on demonstrated financial need and available funding.

How early should we arrive for class?

Students should arrive approximately 10–15 minutes before class begins to allow time to change, warm up, and be ready when class starts.

What if my child has never danced before?

We welcome beginners! Our Children's Division is specifically designed to introduce young dancers to ballet in a fun, age-appropriate environment. Older beginners should contact us so we can recommend the best placement.

What is the difference between the Children's Division, Lower School, Upper School, Academy, and Pre-Professional Training Program?

Children's Division (Ages 2–6)
Our Children's Division introduces young dancers to ballet through imaginative, age-appropriate classes that develop coordination, musicality, confidence, creativity, and a love of dance.

Lower School
The Lower School includes Levels I-V and builds a strong classical foundation while introducing greater technical structure and discipline. Students develop proper ballet vocabulary, alignment, strength, and artistry in a supportive environment. As students progress in their training, they attend multiple classes each week and study ballet alongside complementary disciplines as appropriate for their level.

Academy Program
The Academy Track, including our Youth Beginner, Youth Intermediate, Academy Intermediate, and Academy Advanced levels, offers high-quality classical training with greater scheduling flexibility for students who wish to pursue excellent ballet instruction without the comprehensive commitment of the pre-professional curriculum.

Upper School / Pre-Professional Training Program
Our Pre-Professional Training Program is designed for dancers pursuing advanced training with professional aspirations. Students receive comprehensive instruction from experienced faculty in a curriculum focused on technical excellence, artistry, performance, and career preparation.

The recommended number of classes depends on the dancer's age, experience, and goals.

Students in our Children's Division generally attend one class per week.

As dancers advance through the school, faculty may recommend additional classes to support healthy technical development and consistent progress. Students enrolled in the Lower School and the Upper School / Pre-Professional Training Program are expected to follow the required curriculum for their level.

Faculty carefully evaluate each dancer's strength, technique, alignment, flexibility, consistency of training, and physical maturity before recommending pointe shoes. Every dancer develops differently, and our highest priority is ensuring that pointe work begins safely and at the appropriate time.

Yes. Eligible students will have opportunities to participate in competitions through select Eglevsky Ballet programs.
